What is Tapinarof?

Tapinarof is the active ingredient in Zedman® Cream. It acts through modulation of the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR), demonstrating favorable therapeutic effects in atopic dermatitis. These effects include:

Skin barrier repair

Reduction of inflammation

Enhancement of antioxidant responses

Reduction of pro-pruritic factors

Reduction of pathogenic bacteria

What is the Role of the Aryl Hydrocarbon Receptor (AhR)?

AhR is present in barrier tissues, including the skin, and plays an important role in maintaining skin homeostasis. Tapinarof binds to AhR and activates it within cells. This has multiple effects:

Important Safety Information

Indication: Zedman® (Tapinarof Cream, concentration/strength per package insert)is a drug with an aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR)-related mechanism of action. It is indicated for the topical treatment of patients aged 2 years and older.
*Observed adverse events (% placebo-adjusted): application site reactions (7.6%), folliculitis (3.2%), contact dermatitis (0.4%), headache (1.6%).
